So I forgot to mention in my last post about something my four year old did. Which made me laugh.
There has been this random piece of trash on the stairs leading up to our floor. It has been there for almost the entirety of our occupancy thus far.
So my daughter likes to hold my hand as she makes her way up the stairs. Well the day in question I was in somewhat of a hurry and so I was rushing her along. She was moving pretty briskly for a toddler taking on stairs. I wasn’t paying to much attention to her cause she has climbed those stairs countless times before.
It wasn’t till we reached the trash on the stairs that I felt a jerk on my arm. It seems in an attempt to avoid stepping on this sticky piece of trash, my daughter chose to sacrifice herself to the dangers of falling. Putting all hope for her life on the precarious grip our hands shared. Luckily I had repositioned my grip moments before and managed to pull her 40 pound frame safely to the next step.
It was in that moment that I realized, my daughter was ready to die for her cause, no matter the outcome. I am not looking forward to her teenage years. This is going to be a hell of a ride!
What more can I say about apartment life? They are becoming few and far between but that’s just because we are finally comfortable. The neighbors still sound like they have cement shoes on their feet. I wish they would go take a swim. The weed smell has gotten to the point where the next time it happens the cops will be called to deal with it.
If you wanna smoke weed and get away with it, maybe you shouldn’t draw attention to yourself with all the noise. Of course, that’s just my opinion.
I have taken over the kitchen table as my office. Katie tries to act important and sit at the table with her laptop. Like she is doing anything.
We still need some furniture like end tables and bookshelves but other than that we have all the necessities.
As much as I wanted to say that everything has settled and there really is no major problems. I can’t. The A.C. that they supposedly fixed last week is not cooling anything. so as much as I love to wake up with my face stuck to the pillow I would rather not. My four year old has woken up multiple times in the night crying because she is hot.
This is what I will focus on, sucks for them that rent is due and I still haven’t paid. They have at least a week to fix it.
We have been here for over a month now! It really feels like we’ve been here so much longer though! There have been some growing pains, to say the least over the last month. Yet we have made it! I hope that this place keeps feeling like more and more like home, as we wait to see what will happen.
The neighbors still make noise so no surprise there. Katie said, “they sound like they are dropping bombs”. It is still pretty annoying but on that note, the smell of marijuana has decreased, fingers crossed it stays that way.
Today the 32nd day of survival in this place was the most trying but that was only because my internet provider is stupid! I went to trade in my old modem/router for a new one, due to issues with the old one, and they gave me just a modem. So I went and bought a Wi-Fi router cause I needs me some Wi-Fi! Well, conveniently it did not work. So I called them and the guy said hey you can get a panoramic modem that does both without any deposit on it. Well, when I went to the store to get it they told me I had to pay the deposit – insert eye roll- we went back and forth and now I’m 25 dollars poorer. I’m also waiting to see if they will reimburse me for it since it was their people who said I wouldn’t have to pay!
This has been the most stress full day since moving in. Aside from that Life here has been rather nice!
A lot of us have experienced what seems like paranormal activity in my room. I have taken to a high fiber diet in order to battle these entities with their own weapons! I think it’s working it has also been keeping the kids away from me so, great success!
In honor of Katie’s “dropping bombs” comment, I leave you all with this great song!
The apartment is now becoming more of a home! New décor, more personalizing, and feeling comfy. Than there is the same old relaxing things we’ve come to love about the apartment like the rock quarry upstairs, the fragrant smell of cannabis, and the ghost!
Also, as for my lightbulb dilemma, it’s still a pain in my ass! I went to Lowe’s and could not find the lightbulbs, when I finally found lightbulbs I couldn’t find the ones I needed. Not to mention the employees at said store (Huh? What? You mean I’ve already said the name of the store? Oops!). Lowe’s employees were no help!
My sink was draining really slow! I bout a cheap snake to clean it out. Oh my Lawd! It was disgusting, that’s what the picture up top is! 😛
I introduced myself to the new neighbor and she offered me milk. Yay it threw me off too!
They did come and fix my A.C. so yay victory! More to report in a few days
The apartment has been quiet, I left the apartment on the twenty-four day and luckily when I came back my apartment was still here.
I waited all day for them to call me about my problem with my A.C. and I got nothing.
Katie and I started dieting and as much as i hate admitting it she is better at it than I am.
No one tell her, please.
The city is cover in ash and smoke from the wildfires. It looks ominous.
I had a nightmare last night that we moved into another house and finally settled down only to have another fire break out.
At least my neighbors are being very helpful by filling my apartment with the smell of weed.
Dag nabit! I hope this comes to an end soon!
Today I learned that my toddler does not like me having the door to my room locked. Which sucks cause my oldest likes to just bust into my room.
Who does she think I am the head of the household or something?
I just need some dressers and shelves and I will have everything put away! This apartment is finally feeling like a home!
I have teenagers so it’s not exactly peaceful but it is a home!
Yep that’s right we have made it twenty whole days! It’s had it ups and downs. Never mind that that’s just me using the stairs! I feel like by the time I really start to consider this place home we will finally be saying goodbye to this place.
One day at a time I guess.
Also the smell of Marijuana is back. I almost started to miss it! (I’m sure the eye roll I did while typing that has damaged my optic nerves)
It’s the little victories I guess.
Day Nineteen: Either there is something in the air, or we are just getting use to living the apartment life. Nothing stood out and it worries me but at the same time I’m done worrying.
I spent fifteen minutes looking through my blind and screaming at the people getting outta there cars or taking their trash out.
I think I’m losing it. I’m becoming a cranky old man.
I went to Wal-Mart to get the right light bulbs. They did not have them. Yay!
Also my downstairs neighbor started yelling and cussing at each other! Yelling about stabbing each other and threatening to kill one another. Y’all are on another level of crazy!
Get that mess outta her!
